Dissimilatory sulfite reductase

Target Tube dsrAB (Desulfovibrio)

Product description

This target tube measures the presence and quantity of the dsrAB gene in a DNA extract. The DsrAB gene in bacteria encodes for the enzyme dissimilatory (bi)sulfite reductase. The DsrAB gene and its associated enzyme are essential for bacteria to obtain energy from sulfur compounds such as sulfate, sulfite, and organosulfonates, playing a crucial role in the biogeochemical cycles of sulfur and carbon. Additionally, the DsrAB gene enables bacteria to thrive in diverse environments.

DsrAB enzymes are primarily associated with sulfate-reducing microorganisms. These target tubes make it possible to apply environmental monitoring via PCR-based methods. This monitoring can demonstrate the presence and extent of this gene within the bacterial population.
