Legionella pneumophila

Target Tube Legionella pneumophila

Product description

This target tube detects the Legionella pneumophila bacterium in a water sample. Legionella pneumophila is the causative agent of Legionnaires’ disease in 90% of cases, also known as legionellosis or Legionnaires’ disease. This disease causes pneumonia with high fever and a dry, usually non-productive cough. Individuals with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk.

Legionella pneumophila naturally occurs in freshwater, such as lakes and rivers, but can also proliferate in artificial aqueous environments. This qPCR analysis complements regular Legionella measurements, and its rapid detection allows for the prevention of Legionella sources before they become a problem.
