Target Tube Salmonella

Product description

The salmonella bacterium often causes intestinal infections in people in the Netherlands. The bacterium can be found in many different foods. Many animals can carry salmonella because the bacteria can survive in surface water for several months. The use of this surface water in horticulture or as drinking water for livestock can lead to salmonella infections in animals and/or vegetables/fruits.

Consuming food contaminated with salmonella can potentially lead to gastroenteritis (intestinal infection), with symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal cramps, nausea, and vomiting.

The Salmonella Target Tube measures the presence of salmonella bacteria in the DNA extract. This enables monitoring of surface and drinking water. With the rapid qPCR measurement, it becomes possible to respond to contamination of surface and/or drinking water within 2 hours.
